Jim says: “My Mercer A5 was built/owned by a fellow named Piasecki, at Adirondack ca. 1991. I bought it from a second owner in 2012. It had a steel boiler built by Mercer/Sclavi. That boiler sprung a leak in the crown sheet a few years back. I decided on a new steel boiler from Mary Knox. In the meantime, I had everything apart. Had worn bearings and axle surfaces. Make new axles, which required resetting the eccentrics. New Torrington roller bearings. Lot’s of new parts and piping. It’s (hopefully) ready for Spring [2023] Steam-up.”
