About

Welcome to Iron Horse Supply Corp!  IHSC provides castings for the 7-1/2 and 7-1/4 inch track gauge live steam community.  Products are made of quality cast iron, cast bronze, and some aluminum castings for decorative parts.  Other parts are of water jet or laser cut.

The company was started by Ed Archer to continue the original Mercer manganese bronze coupler line and along with these came the 1-1/2” scale A5a Camelback 0-4-0 locomotive project. Patterns for missing items for the locomotive have been added and castings have been made available. Additional patterns are in the works. Further items include the Bettendorf Freight Truck.

Ed Archer started in steam as soon as he could hold an oil can on his father’s 2ft gauge private railroad. He went on to build a copy of the 2ft 0-4-0 1936 12ton Vulcan to fit 7-1/2” gauge (3.2 scale) while attending FTU/UCF engineering school.  Further along, he and the late Norman Gracy built an E6 Atlantic off the Saturated Steam offering. With a full working home shop, he has the facility and knowledge of the hobby for making exacting parts or not so exacting parts, as the case may be.
